After the dragon Emil decides to search for his mom in the far north, he meets many new friends on his journey: the guard dog Otello, the otters Fredi and Ferdi, the swamp witch, and two troll children. But King Frott, the supreme troll king, has wicked plans. Together with his strongest trolls, he pulls Emil's mom out of the swamp and takes her captive. With her help, he intends to hatch the egg of an earth dragon to gain control of the world. For the powerful earth dragons that live underground keep the world running.
