On the occasion of Charlotte Salomon's 100th birthday on April 16, 2017, a new biography places the intense images and thus the self-representation of the painter at its center for the first time. While recently writers, musicians, and dramaturges have drawn inspiration from Salomon—her life was the subject of David Foenkinos' novel, and an opera was premiered under the direction of Luc Bondy—Margret Greiner has researched the historical facts behind the painted diary.
