King Ludwig II of Bavaria was the ruler of Bavaria from 1864 until his death in 1886 and is known in history as the "Fairy Tale King." He earned this title, among other reasons, due to his passion for castles and the construction of Neuschwanstein Castle, which was completed shortly before his death in 1884. Furthermore, during his reign, he supported the contemporary cultural scene; for example, Richard Wagner owed him the continuation of his musical work. In the present book from 1886, Walther Berg briefly yet succinctly addresses the various stages of Ludwig's life and describes both his reign and the personality of the king.
