One of the most popular long-distance hiking trails in southern Germany is the König-Ludwig-Weg. This route takes you through the romantic landscape of the Pfaffenwinkel, along easy paths and trails from Lake Starnberg to Lake Ammersee, up to the magnificent viewpoint on the Hohen Peissenberg, also known as the "Bavarian Rigi," down into the wild Ammerschlucht, over gentle hills to baroque churches and monasteries, and finally to the castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, as well as the picturesque town of Füssen.
