Band 11. Historical drama. Richard, the Duke of Gloucester and brother of Edward IV, decides to become a villain. Deformed and ugly from birth, he is willing to commit any crime to ascend to the throne. He incites the king against his brother Clarence and has him murdered in the Tower. To win over Princess Anne, whose husband and father-in-law Richard had killed, he courts her at the coffin of King Henry VI, her father-in-law. He claims to have killed only for her sake, and although she initially meets him with hatred and disgust, she cannot resist his charm. When the ailing King Edward IV dies, Richard has his sons murdered in the Tower. Lord Hastings, who opposes Richard's schemes, is ruthlessly eliminated as well. The path to the throne is clear. To gain sympathy for Richard among the people, a grand event is organized.
