The 'Parzival' by Wolfram von Eschenbach (1200/1210) is one of the main works of German literature from the Middle Ages. The story of Parzival, Gawan, and the quest for the Grail is now presented in a retelling created by Wolf Wiechert in collaboration with scholars and teachers. This book project, aimed at a broad audience, particularly in educational settings, takes a new approach: the retelling closely follows Wolfram's narrative and incorporates 20 key scenes from the medieval 'Parzival' in Middle High German, complete with translations and linguistic explanations. This hybrid format allows readers to engage with the Parzival story in contemporary language while also appreciating the language and poetic artistry of one of the most significant storytellers of the European Middle Ages.
