Product details

Since its first publication, this documentation has been regarded as a standard work on Wagner's anti-Semitism and on 19th-century anti-Semitism in general. At the time, it was welcomed by the international Wagner research community as a foundation for a deeper discussion about Wagner's stance on this issue. For the first time, it allows a larger readership to become acquainted with Wagner's writings in both versions, the original from 1850 and the significantly expanded one from 1869. A comprehensive introduction places Wagner's ideas in the context of his time, while also addressing the structures of his personal anti-Semitism. A significant portion of the book also documents the contemporary reactions, particularly to the second publication. This documentation has been out of print for some time, but there has been a consistent demand for a new edition.
