Product details

While the natural sciences celebrate successes, the meaning of life and humanity increasingly falls into darkness, and reality becomes uncertain. The Enlightenment stripped metaphysics of its power, and the objectivity theorem of the sciences deconstructed the subject. The idea of a soul or a spiritual being fell victim to reductionism. Above all, the epistemological damage is significant.

The philosopher Edmund Husserl opens a new path with the Epoché: a non-intentional, non-evaluative gaze should become possible through an expanded reason - through a transcendental view of the subject and the world. 'Transcendental' here refers to the view of the subject as it knows, not to the contents of knowledge.

Husserl concludes that the foundation of knowledge lies in apodictic propositions and that the task of humanity is to become oneself - the development of personality towards autonomy. Only in becoming aware of this foundation do we become persons in the true sense: subjects who come to themselves and can live freely and self-determined. From here, the perspective of a transrational, thus spiritually expanded science opens up.
