Humans only learn what excites them. Only what relates to our world of experience and what we encounter in relation to others establishes new and lasting neural connections, which are essential for real learning success. Gerald Hüther, one of Germany's most renowned neurobiologists, advocates for the implementation of this insight at the community level. Community is much more than an administrative unit; it is all of us. Originally, community means "togetherness": the family, the village, the city. These are the true places of learning, for both children and adults. Here, young people learn what truly matters in life, how to shape their lives together with others, and how to take responsibility.
