The field of physical disability education provided, until 20 years ago, primarily theoretical foundations and practice-relevant impulses for the design of educational offerings for people with physical disabilities. The reflection on the self-understanding of the discipline and its socio-ethical framework conditions seemed to be of secondary importance. Therefore, the volume discusses, questions, and clarifies the theoretical foundations of the subject in the context of current challenges in the first chapter. The second chapter focuses on the professional knowledge and skills of physical disability educators, their self-understanding, and their attitudes towards their clientele. The third chapter highlights selected aspects of the specialized knowledge regarding institutions and life themes in the context of the life course.
