The current social science discussion on the topic of the body often focuses on individual expressions and feelings. However, interactions between bodies are of neither empirical nor theoretical interest. Yet, without considering this fundamental form of relationship, the social development of humans cannot be adequately understood. Therefore, a reorientation is necessary that anchors insights into shared bodily realities within interdisciplinary discourse. This volume fills a research gap by providing a broad, interdisciplinary overview of a previously neglected topic.
