The Encyclopedic Handbook of Disability Education "Disability, Education, Participation" aims to present the entire field of disability education concerning its constitutive terms, tasks and issues, concepts, and approaches to action. It takes into account the fundamental research and development status of the discipline based on current knowledge from an interdisciplinary perspective. Guided by an understanding of education that views it as a means for self-determined living, comprehensive personal development, and societal participation, the handbook consists of 10 volumes with more than 400 individual articles that address the fundamental questions of education and participation in the face of disabling conditions. Volume 2 focuses on the category of disability, which is examined consistently from the perspective of participation.
