Substance and behavioral addiction disorders are treated in the German healthcare system both in the primary treatment sector (detoxification, withdrawal, and psychotherapy) and during the rehabilitation phase, either on an outpatient or inpatient basis. This multiprofessional and cross-sectoral care landscape presents particular challenges to practitioners regarding an intervention strategy appropriate for each individual patient. The book provides overarching case concepts and heuristics for therapy planning and illustrates these with case studies of three individuals at different stages of development and life contexts.
