The legislator has mandated through the enactment of the Law Books V and XI that nursing, medical, and rehabilitation facilities provide their services in accordance with the generally accepted state of medical and nursing knowledge. Since July 1, 2008, all SGB-XI facilities are required to implement the expert standards in accordance with Section 113a. The quality criteria of the expert standards account for half of the criteria to be assessed by the Medical Service, with 16 criteria contributing to the TÜV rating. This book presents and elaborates on these quality criteria for each expert standard; for example, it discusses what to consider when assessing the risk of pressure ulcers or how to identify and avoid trip hazards in one's own home. The book also addresses the specifics of implementing the expert standards and provides an overview.
