The book presents the client-centered concept of conversation therapy developed by C. Rogers. Many of its elements have been incorporated into other therapeutic concepts, often undergoing significant changes in meaning. These include the positive view of human nature, resource orientation, and the paramount importance of the therapeutic relationship. In the 10th edition, special emphasis is again placed on depicting the original conception of conversation therapy, focusing on the therapeutically effective relationship in which the client experiences acceptance, empathetic understanding, and non-judgment.
