Behavioral issues often make life very difficult for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and their environment. Many parents, educators, and therapists reach their limits with normal parenting strategies or even view the behavioral problems as an unchangeable part of the individual's personality. This book aims to provide hope and demonstrate concrete strategies to understand and effectively address these issues. What triggers, consequences, and functions do behavioral problems have? How can preventive measures be taken? What positive alternatives can be developed, and what consequences are reasonable?
