Many people experience traumatic events that often lead to the development of mental disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Since PTSD is frequently not properly recognized and therefore not adequately treated, this textbook aims to raise awareness for comprehensive diagnostics and to introduce the corresponding methodology. Based on scientific and empirical foundations, it provides a systematic introduction to the history, etiology, therapeutic methods, risk and protective factors of PTSD. Additionally, specific areas of psychotraumatology, such as eating disorders or migration, are addressed separately.
