The religious beliefs of young people show a variety of references to Christian traditions. However, what these young people understand by Christian tradition often serves as a kind of negative backdrop against which they differentiate their own spirituality. This presentation has both empirical and religious education conceptual interests. On the empirical level, the religiosity of young people is examined, focusing on how they discuss their experiences with religion and their personal faith. From a religious education conceptual perspective, the question is raised whether the didactic principle of correlation can be beneficially applied in the context of contemporary religious education, meaning that designs of correlational didactics should be supported, which conceptually incorporate both experience and tradition.
