The birth of the first child is a critical life event for young parents that can also trigger a transformation in adult religiosity. The author examines how parents can be supported in reflecting on their own religious disposition and relating it to changing life and faith questions. Thus, the focus is not on the religious upbringing of the child, but rather on the parents in the context of adult education processes. This understanding of religious parent education follows the approaches of crisis, biography, and empowerment orientation. Based on these three contemporary diagnostic orientations, existing offerings in religious parent education are critically examined, and perspectives are developed for a religious parent education that is consciously framed within the context of religious adult education.
