Chronic pain often leads to a profound limitation of quality of life. This book outlines the requirements for pain management in nursing for chronic pain based on the DNQP expert standard "Pain Management in Nursing for Chronic Pain." It addresses ethical foundations, nursing self-understanding, and care issues. The most common tools for pain assessment and evaluation of pain therapy, as well as both pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain treatments, are explained and critically discussed. Opportunities for qualification, projects, and certification processes for implementing a well-founded, multidisciplinary-oriented pain management approach are presented.
