This practical guide is aimed at both employees in social pedagogical family and educational assistance and the employers. It provides a concrete action plan that enables a trusting collaboration between family helpers, families, and youth welfare offices, and highlights ways to foster understanding within families and partnerships. A wealth of exercises that can be carried out together with families facilitates practical implementation. Reporting templates, self-help plans, and exercises have been tested and selected by many family helpers over many years of practical work. Prof. Dr. Marga Rothe (1932-2012) founded the Association for the Promotion of Children and Adolescents in Heidelberg, where social pedagogical family and educational assistance has been practiced for more than two decades.
