Reading is one of the core activities of a history degree. It is ubiquitous, for example, for exam preparation, education and participation, research, and study organization. At the same time, specifically academic reading encompasses new types and functions of texts, specialized and foreign languages, as well as writing and referencing systems across different media. This academic reading is often underestimated in its complexity and therefore not specifically learned. The book fills this gap and introduces the reader to reading attitudes and methods for the study of history. It highlights typical reading tasks and problems and presents holistic solutions. In this way, it offers an analysis and methodology toolkit to develop appropriate reading strategies and to transfer them into professional contexts.
