Complex tasks in focus "Competence" has become one of the most commonly used terms in the context of school, teaching, and education. To implement it in a meaningful way that is effective for teaching and education, it requires not only a theoretical but, above all, a practical clarification. This book explains how the goal of foreign language discourse competence can be achieved through complex competence tasks. In the didactic-theoretical section, the concepts relevant for competence-oriented teaching are developed and presented. The practical section offers topic-oriented teaching examples for all levels from the beginning of secondary education I to the Abitur, covering the common areas of English teaching (from skills to generic forms to working with literary and other texts).
