A central component of value creation networks in toolmaking is the presence of dedicated toolmaking locations. Currently, toolmaking has an internal value creation network with an average of two toolmaking locations. The aim of this work is to develop a methodology for networking toolmaking locations based on areas of expertise, in order to connect toolmaking locations worldwide and to leverage resulting synergy effects to achieve cost- and market-oriented advantages.
