A well-functioning collaboration between the full-time management and the voluntary board is of central relevance to the success of any nonprofit organization. However, due to the different conditions of voluntary and full-time work, this collaboration is extremely complex and potentially conflict-prone. Based on a qualitative and a quantitative study, Sarah Bürgisser analyzes, describes, and systematizes the key drivers of conflict and develops a corresponding conflict model.
