Product details

Colors are optical models that help us affirm our connection to the physical world and give it meaning. Since Newton demonstrated the spectral refraction of light, color has ceased to be a tangible component of true nature; instead, it has become a subjectively experienced phenomenon that relies on human perception but is based on physical causes. Color perception thus represents the precedent case of the divided subject between the physical and the psychological. By tracing its impression back to the eye and brain, the existence of color is as little explained as the assumption that it must solely depend on human perception. The world is also colorful without our perception of it as such, but it is pointless to speak of color without the perceiving human and their aesthetic judgment. We have no distance to visible light; there is no adversarial relationship but rather a pre-existing contact relationship. The volume "Colors" by Sabine Scho addresses this inevitable contact relationship, focusing on the emotional value of the color experience. It weaves through the motives and sensations that have become identity-forming for a West German subject. A Voyage Colorée. With poems and images in color through the inner world of outer experiences. "Scho's independence is unmistakable: No one else writes today with such fragility and yet such density.".
