In the field of art and museum education, workshop discussions create a productive tension between practical artistic creation and discursive conversation in museums, art classes, and teacher training. Particularly based on the hermeneutic approach that art is fundamentally accessible to art historical and art scientific understanding, such encounters and engagement with artworks can reveal their meaning and significance in a unity of artistic action and thought. Eight specific workshop discussions from the contexts of school, museum, and university demonstrate the remarkable meaningfulness of this approach.
