Communicating life stories about the life paths, situations, and themes of a theater ensemble is a multifaceted art. Particularly in theater education contexts, it is referred to as biographical theater. In this volume, theater, cultural, and social scientists, as well as theater practitioners, explore the genre in a conceptually and factually oriented manner to provide new impulses for the dramaturgical, didactic, and ethical aspects of a socially aesthetic theater. The publication suggests a shift in focus from biography as a product to the process of biographizing ("doing biography"). Besides what appears as biography on stage, the central question here is: Who biographizes whom, why, and especially how in theater? The book serves as the introduction under the keyword "Theater as Social Art I-III.".
