Korbinian Aigner (1885-1966) was a rural pastor from Upper Bavaria, an outstanding fruit expert, and a perceptive contemporary who paid for his regime-critical statements with imprisonment and concentration camp detention. He became famous after his death for his collection of fruit paintings: nearly 900 postcard-sized watercolors depicting apples and pears. Since their exhibition at dOCUMENTA(13), this collection has gained recognition far beyond pomological circles. He bequeathed the paintings to the Technical University of Munich; today, they are among the most valuable holdings of the TUM.Archiv. Peter J.
