This volume continues the content of Volume 1. While the previous volume focused on introducing users to recognizing family relationships, this one provides keys for subdividing families into genera and species. In line with the fundamental concept of the entire series, the herbaceous plants are organized according to their systematic relationships. The larger families are presented in detail. There are also photos and information about the species that could not be included in Volume 1, covering their biology and ecology, distribution, and usability. Special attention is given to ensuring that the information on medicinal effects or toxicity reflects the latest scientific findings. Particularly noteworthy species are given a more detailed monograph than was possible in Volume 1.
