Children's dance has increasingly been recognized as a creative supplement to physical education in recent years, and it is in high demand from parents and educators alike. And rightly so! However, until now, there has been little guidance for dance-inexperienced teachers and educators who want to develop choreographic projects with their students. This gap is filled by Cologne dance educator Catharina Gadelha with her creative practical guide. At the heart of her method for teaching dance skills is the development of children's physical expressiveness and musicality. Examples of lesson plans and their dramaturgy are provided. Exercises are analyzed: when and why do they work, and when and why do they not? Pathways for choreographing for children and with children are explored. This is work done without any materials or props, relying solely on the possibilities of the body.
