Product details

Since 1986, Northern Uganda has suffered from the violent conflict between the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and the Ugandan government. Members of the Acholi people have been persecuted, murdered, mutilated, and forced into internally displaced persons camps. Thousands of children and young people have been abducted and forced to fight and kill. Lucia Verginer conducted extensive ethnopsychoanalytical conversations with former abductees, known as child soldiers, directly at the post-war site. In her present book, she traces five unique yet tragically collective life stories. In doing so, she foregrounds the question of the development prospects for former abductees: How do people continue to live who were abducted as children and young people, forcibly turned into soldiers, and then spent their lives engaging in robbery, fighting, killing, torture, and murder?.
