Critical discourse analysis, inspired by the writings of Michel Foucault and oriented towards cultural and literary analytical and interpretive methods, is gaining increasing popularity across all disciplines that deal with texts. Both educators and psychologists, as well as social scientists, linguists, literary scholars, and media and communication researchers have successfully analyzed and interpreted discourses using the proposals contained in critical discourse analysis. The critical potential inherent in this approach makes it particularly suitable for analyzing socially relevant topics, problematizing and criticizing their forms and contents, exposing unjustified claims to truth, uncovering contradictions, and highlighting the suggestive means of discursive address.
