Croatian children born in German-speaking countries often lack even fundamental knowledge of their grandparents' language. Therefore, Croatian associations and communities, adult education centers, and private educational institutions offer native-speaking conversation courses for the offspring of the many Croatians in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. However, there has been little suitable, motivating material available for these purposes in the book market until now. The new colorfully illustrated book by Emeli Wethmar fills this gap. It contains approximately 1,000 learning words conveyed through 150 colorful illustrations. The conversation texts include simple question sentences, statements, and negation sentences, possessive pronouns, important verbs, and adjectives. The lessons are theme-based and age-appropriate: numbers, colors, greetings, on the farm, at the zoo, fruits, school, leisure/vacation, etc. The learning program is also suitable for adults who want to take their first steps into the Croatian language.
