This innovative lexicon serves as both a work and author dictionary. It contains around 1,800 entries on works and over 800 entries on authors. Each entry begins with a brief biographical overview of a philosopher, followed by a presentation of their works. Extensive bibliographic information lists editions and secondary literature related to both the respective philosopher and their complete works, as well as to individual philosophical works. The comprehensive dictionary of philosophy is a collaborative effort by more than 300 authors, many of whom are renowned specialists in their respective philosophers and their works. It covers the entire spectrum of Western philosophy; it also includes works and thinkers from Arab and Jewish, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese philosophy that have had a lasting impact on European philosophy.
