Gerhard Övenhorst is a malicious miser. The old man with a dark past owns two residential and commercial buildings in Cuxhaven. He exploits the tenants of the shops without any scruples using unscrupulous methods. Two petty criminals handle the "dirty work" for him. However, he goes too far in his confrontation with a tenant. When a body bitten by a wolf is found in Wingst, Commissioner Marie Janssen is tasked with clarifying the exact circumstances of the death. This is her first collaboration with her new, young boss. His predecessor, Konrad Röverkamp, and former criminal officer Christiansen assist them. They recall an unsolved murder case from the 1980s that suggests a connection to the current investigations.
