In certain professional fields, intercultural experience is now considered a must-have in the resume of a career-oriented individual; societal demands for personal mobility are continuously rising. A stay abroad represents a significant experience, which is often perceived as a turning point in one's life story. For this reason, the author delves into questions regarding the experience of a foreign world: What does the foreignness of the abroad have to do with me, how does personal change occur, and why is returning sometimes so difficult?.
