Product details
Artur Henne (1887-1963) was a painter and graphic artist from Dresden, who dedicated his works to landscape representation, particularly of the surrounding area. Henne's works, among which the etchings of Saxon castles and fortresses are probably the most famous, reflect a love for his homeland and a sense of rootedness. He completed the arts and crafts preparatory school in Dresden in 1902, worked in the arts and crafts industry for two years, attended the Dresden School of Arts and Crafts from 1905 to 1908, where he studied theater painting under Prof. Donadini, and then the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts from 1908 to 1912 as a master student of Eugen Bracht, graduating in 1912 with a silver medal. Since 1913, he created a multitude of bookplates as well as greeting, anniversary, and New Year cards for the citizens of Dresden, companies, and clients beyond the city limits in his studio at Kaiserstrasse 2. His work in bookplates, in particular, is noteworthy.
