New Edition Volume 2: Lagoon Secrets – Italian Adriatic Mid by Günter Lengnink
The coast from Ravenna to Venice, the hinterland extending beyond Cremona.
This book is a fully revised Volume 2 of the series by Günter Lengnink, dedicated to this water world of the Italian Adriatic.
With this book, we aim to spark your curiosity to explore not only the magnificent Venice with its vast lagoon. We start much further south, in Ravenna, reaching the heart of the Italian Adriatic. Initially, we encounter the flat sandy coast, typical of this part of Italy. But behind the coastline lies a whole world of waters waiting to be explored, inviting you to venture nearly 300 km into the hinterland – by boat! In this case, it is a motorboat. We will show you which boat size is suitable for this journey.
Water worlds for all types of boats. But we do not forget the sailors. Ravenna is a yacht harbor filled with sailing yachts, and Porto Garibaldi is easily accessible by sailboat, bringing you close to the historic Comacchio. The large bay in the south of the Po Delta, the Sacca di Goro, can be directly approached by sailboat, and the fishing village of Goro offers ample insight into the life of the Po Delta. The entrance to the Po di Levante can also be used to reach Porto Levante, or of course, the three major entrances to the lagoon of Venice. Here, we recommend a route behind the islands of Lido and Pellestrina after visiting Venice, leading to Chioggia, the smaller "sister" of Venice. With over 3 meters of water depth, this beautiful route is also navigable by sailboat.
Of course, the other areas of canals and rivers are specifically suited for motorboats or canoes. Unfortunately, water depth and bridges do not allow for much else unless you have a capable tender with your sailing yacht.
Waterways. We describe them.
