After the experience of two world wars, the establishment and enforcement of human rights became an important goal. As early as 1946, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the UN, followed by the European Convention on Human Rights in 1948 and 1950. Since children are particularly vulnerable to war and violence, and unfortunately still are, and cannot yet care for themselves, they require special protection. Therefore, the UN adopted a Declaration of the Rights of the Child as early as 1959. Since 1989, there has been a Convention on the Rights of the Child, which has been ratified by almost all countries in the world over time.
