The anti-nuclear power protest movement from Wyhl to Brokdorf (Parts I and II in volumes 18 and 19 of the Library of Resistance). In the early 1970s, resistance against the federal government's nuclear policy formed in the northern German Wilstermarsch and the Baden Kaiserstuhl. Citizen initiatives led to a unique coalition of action between winemakers, farmers, fishermen, and the left-wing extra-parliamentary opposition. Tens of thousands fiercely resisted police and federal border guards, many experiencing excessive state violence for the first time. Wyhl and Wackersdorf were successfully prevented, while Brokdorf and Biblis were constructed. The movement against nuclear power is now a societal mass movement.
