The handbook has become a standard work for the theory and practice of educational assistance and has been adopted as a textbook in training and studies for social education professions. Currently, educational assistance is undergoing the most significant transformation since the early 1990s. Therefore, the second edition of the handbook addresses current developments, discusses the implications for the practice of educational assistance, and incorporates the perspectives of the recipients more strongly. Contributions from over 100 renowned authors in the field of educational assistance represent the full range of educational support: the legal foundations have been updated to include the latest changes to SGB VIII, the complete spectrum of support forms from advisory and outpatient assistance to living arrangements for mothers, fathers, and children is presented, the actors in child and youth welfare, including public and private providers, are described, and the (social) educational concepts and approaches are introduced. A look into the future concludes the new edition of the handbook.
