At the beginning of this community publication is the Lamella Bernensis (LB): this amulet needed to be deciphered, understood, and presented to the academic world in an appropriate manner after its surprising emergence in Bern. Initially, the plan was only to publish a modest account of a rather exciting new find. However, it soon became clear that various characteristics of the LB deserved increased attention. In particular, it was necessary to find comparable elements regarding the cosmos of the seven heavens developed in the text and what lies beneath them. The search initially led to PGM XXXV, and from there to the Tablette magique de Bey routh (TMB) in the Louvre. Even the insight into its editio princeps, which Heron de Villefosse had prepared in 1909, revealed such a close relationship to the LB that results became apparent immediately.
