The teaching and learning materials "Language through Art" are aimed at schools with a linguistically and culturally diverse student body. These materials promote language skills among students while also introducing them to cultural education. By engaging with artworks in the museum and through language-didactic preparation and follow-up in the classroom, new motivating language learning processes are initiated. At the same time, content-oriented, language-integrated learning in German and art classes contributes to the development of a differentiated use of language. The concept was developed in a collaborative project between the Museum Folkwang Essen and the Institute of German as a Second and Foreign Language at the University of Duisburg-Essen, and was supported by the Mercator Foundation. The materials can be applied to different target groups and teaching-learning contexts.
