For eight years, Karoline Schreiber, painter and draftsman, has been continuously and consistently working on an extensive cycle of drawings. Drawing has always accompanied her, evolving into a distinctive visual language within her work and, in a way, becoming autonomous. "Strong and Easy" brings together for the first time a selection of nearly 500 of Schreiber's now 3,000 drawings in an artist book. The drawings are created using a method that the artist calls "automatic drawing." In this approach, she grants many rights to the intuitive, unplanned, and unconscious, referencing écriture automatique. She draws according to a principle she has established, producing at least one drawing per day in the same type of book. "Strong and Easy" makes Karoline Schreiber's drawing attitude visible: imperfections and depths.
