According to a study by the international aid organization Oxfam, only 85 people currently possess as much wealth as the entire poorer half of the world's population. It doesn't seem far-fetched that in the near future, just sixteen families could divide the entire world among themselves, leaving the rest of humanity as "serfs" and "waste." To secure their wealth and power, each of these families keeps a genetically modified "Lazarus," who is nearly invincible and practically immortal. Greg Rucka has written a gripping apocalyptic drama, and Michael Lark has created cool, unflinchingly clear visuals for it. It's no coincidence that "Lazarus" was nominated for the Eisner Award for "Best New Series" in 2014.
