Product details
This photo book documents everyday life in the railway town of Lehrte and its nine districts between 1876 and 1985 through vivid photographs. With the connection to the railway network in 1843, the former village developed into a significant transport hub in Lower Saxony. Many businesses settled here, such as the sugar factory, which became one of the most important employers in Lehrte. Locals also earned their livelihoods in potash mining and livestock trading. The growth of industry and commerce led to a rapid increase in the population. The construction of new housing and schools permanently changed the cityscape. The photos primarily reflect the everyday and working lives of the locals, showcasing the business world, restaurants, schools, and students. Jan Teschmit and Lucas Weber have compiled over 150 mostly unpublished photographs.
