Systematic acquisition of competencies: In the fourteen chapters of the book, the topics of the curriculum are developed under a specific subject-related competency. This way, each content is always connected to a competency. Each chapter includes a double page dedicated to competency acquisition, where learning occurs through an example and practice is provided through an application task. Fourteen learning tasks support the competency training and offer differentiation options. Goal formulations at the beginning of each chapter and test pages for reviewing and applying what has been learned at the end of each chapter create transparency for the learners and support their motivation.

Three steps to understanding texts: The findings of reading research are consistently taken into account. All texts are processed in three steps: activating prior knowledge, working through the text, and continuing work: establishing follow-up communication.

Differentiation in ethics education: For fast learners, there is a deepening double page with additional questions and/or challenging material, as well as extra learning tasks; depending on the chapter, content and/or competency can be deepened. For individualized work, learning tasks for individual problem-solving are available. Multiple sections per topic offer opportunities for collaborative work.
