The internship presented here is based on the work of S. Hünig, G. Märkl, and J. Sauer from 1979. "Integrated" means that it is not a classic cookbook. All aspects that must be considered in an experiment in scientific uncharted territory are already integrated into the practical experiment. Spectroscopy, discussion of the relevant spectra concerning several conceivable reaction products, theoretical understanding of the various reaction processes, and ultimately the formulation of the reaction mechanisms. The I.O.C. internship is structured according to reaction types, and the experiments in the subsections are interconnected in a goal-oriented manner with respect to the reaction mechanism, wherever possible. This structure is also intended to simulate research-related conditions. The printed text covers general chapters on safety, standard reaction apparatus, and sample experiments.
