The village idyll is deceiving: Gravedigger Max Broll and his best friend, former football star Johann Baroni, receive an immoral offer. They are offered a lot of money to make a corpse disappear from the cemetery. As Baroni is on the brink of financial ruin, they agree to it. The two find themselves on increasingly dark paths when two more corpses are found at Baroni's door shortly after. Not only the two friends but also the police are left wondering where the unknown dead came from and why they are missing several organs.
